Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was fully completed and gave us all the information we asked for. It was very detailed with clear evidence of how the agency has improved since the last key inspection. We received nine surveys from people who live at Stanley House. People told us that they always or usually receive the care and support they need. People were very positive about the staff, describing them as friendly and caring. The manager told us in the AQAA Because we have a small number of service users, we are fortunate to be able to support them to pursue individual interests, this allows us to promote equality and diversity on a very personal level. People told us in the surveys that they enjoy the activities provided by the home and mentioned specific activities which meet their own individual needs, such as hydrotherapy, art and trips out. People told us that they enjoy the meals at the home, and the manager told us in the AQAA We operate a 4 weekly rotating lunch menu, the supper menu has altered following residents requests and we now offer a large choice of supper dishes, on a day to day basis. All the meals are prepared and cooked on the premises; changes to the menu are made following service user suggestion. We currently produce low fat meals, vegan meals and Halal meals to reflect the needs of some of our service users. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 People told us that the home is always kept fresh and clean. One person described the home as being good at caring for the vulnerable and another said I have freedom, choice and care. We have not received any concerns about the home in the last year. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection. The home is managed in a way that shows it has the interests of the people using the home at the centre of what they do. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We think the quality of the agency might have improved since the last key inspection. We will do a key inspection by 7th July 2010 to review our assessment of the agency. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
