Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. What has this told us about the service? The service sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It details improvements made over the last twelve months, and these include: The service continues to provide suitable accommodation and individual support for each resident. Family and social contact and education and training are encouraged. New and in depth care plans have been developed. Residents continue to be encouraged to pursue their own interests and hobbies and plan their annual holidays. Residents health care needs are monitored and health care action plans have been implemented for all residents. Residents meetings are recorded. There are monthly health and safety checks. Risk assessments are updated regularly. The shared areas, and specific rooms have been refurbished. A new bathroom has been installed upstairs. New garden furniture has been purchased. Through training staff have gained experience and knowledge in implementing interventions required. The quality assurance questionnaires have been completed by family and residents. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the service is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. The last key inspection of the service was undertaken on 17 February 2009. The report was generally positive about the services provided and all the outcome areas were rated as good. No Requirements or Recommendations have been made following the inspection. At the time residents and staff were able to comment about the service provided. Further feedback from residents through surveys has been sought as part of this review. Comments received when asked what the home does well were, respect us, everything, and look after me. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The AQAA did not detail that an electrical certificate was in place. This was discussed with the manager, who stated that a certificate was in place and was due to be renewed and this would be addressed. The AQAA details there has been no complaints received and no safeguarding adults referrals made The AQAA details the organisation has a system in place for monitoring its own standards of care delivery. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? There will be no change to the inspection plan and will do a key inspection by 17 February 2012. However, we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
