Care Homes for Adults (18-65 years) Page 3 of 7 What we found: This was a random inspection visit to check compliance following the key inspection which took place 2nd February 2010. Following the last inspection the manager submitted an action plan giving details of the improvements made and plans for further and continued improvements. The service has been supported by Worcestershire County Council staff to address issues concerning the change of rating to zero stars. Changes have been made by the manager to make sure that procedures are now in place when assessing future placements at The Lodge. Improvements have been made to the assessment procedures, the statement of purpose, the completion of risk assessments and the development of care plans and processes. It was not possible to assess the effectiveness of these changes overall as developments by the manager and staff are ongoing. All improvements and changes to procedures need to be fully implemented and maintained. We found that the service has complied with requirements made at the previous inspection. Health action plans are now in place for all residents, although these are kept in separate files and not easily used as a working tool. The manager was advised to combine the files so that all information is accessible at all times, and this will help staff to provide consistent support and maintain accurate records. Finance agreements are now in place and all residents have access to details of their accounts so staff should now be able to fully support people with their finances. Improvements and developments within the service will be monitored and reviewed at the next inspection.
