What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received or asked for since the last key inspection. This included: The Annual Quality Assessment Assurance (AQAA) that was sent to us by this service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. Any surveys that have been returned to us from people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service manages any complaints. What the management has told us about things that have happened in the service. These are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and any results from visits that we may have made to the service in the past twelve months. Relevant information from other organisations. Any information from other people about the service. What has this told us about the service? This home is run with a family style approach. There are only three residents who have all lived with the manager/owner and his wife for many years. The manager has completed the AQAA that does give us a picture of the care and support offered to each person. It tells us of the way a new person would be assessed and offered a trial stay when a place becomes available. It also tells us that no one has asked to leave after their trial period once they have met the other residents and feel able to live happily as a family. The manager tells us that when questions are asked they are listened to and that each resident is treated individually with opinions valued and choices offered. Risk assessments are carried out and residents are encouraged to live as independent a lifestyle as possible. All three residents have returned a questionnaire to us telling us about the service they receive and all three are full of praise stating I am happy, we live as a family and I would not change anything being just some comments made. All the tick box questions and all written comments are positive. We are also told that residents manage their own personal care needs but are supported for showers, medication and any treatment/hospital appointments. The hairdresser visits every two weeks and the residents take pride and are smart in appearance. The AQAA tells us that the home is clean, comfortable and warm. There are nutritional meals provided and eaten in this family style environment. The home does not employ staff as all care is provided by the couple who own this home. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The Commission has not received any concerns or complaints and the last key inspection report of February 2008 plus the Annual Service Review of March 2009 does not make us change our judgement of this home. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We will continue to carry out an Inspection by 05/02/11. However, we may carry out an Inspection at any time if information received gives us concern. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
