What the care home does well We looked at a sample of residents` care plans and found that these were up to date and being reviewed regularly to inform staff on how to care for residents. We looked at the duty rosters and found that staff were working up to 48 hours a week. We found that all these staff had opted out of the working time directive. The duty rosters were completed and up to date. What the care home could do better: We found that the home relies upon serving cereals as a choice of evening meal. The Registered Providers told us that for some residents it was difficult finding foods that they would eat, and that these residents would always eat the cereals provided. We recommend that the home seeks alternatives and does not rely on cereals on too many occasions. We found that there was one radiator in a room on the first floor of the home that was not covered and was of a sufficient temperature that could cause burns. We were told that this radiator would be replaced with one that was of a low surface temperature type. We recommend that this is done as soon as possible. We found that there were some areas of the home where there were odours. We recommend that steps are taken to ensure that these odours are eliminated. Random inspection report
