What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The manager returned the annual quality assurance assessment which gave us all the information we asked for, this was received after the completion date. It was detailed and gave clear evidence of how the home has been managed since the last inspection. There were no requirements issued at the previous inspection carried out in February 2008. The Home comprises of three separate bungalows each providing three ensuite bedrooms, lounge/diner, kitchen and bathroom. The bungalows are next door to each other on a housing estate in Hethersett, close to the city of Norwich. Before new residents move in, they are assessed on their individual care needs and are invited to visit or stay at the before making up their mind to move there. The staff have introduced a new care planning process based on residents personal profile to enable them to meet their individual needs. The manager has told us that the staff support and enables residents to make choices and decisions about their lives. All eight of the current residents have a full day time programme of work life balance and are working towards increased independence. Residents have always told us that they enjoy an active life visiting local care centres, church, maintaining personal interests, shopping and visiting their relatives on a regular basis. The residents are encouraged to continue to take an active role in the day to day running of the homes with some continuing to enjoy preparing and cooking the meals, supported by the staff team. The manager has recruited new staff to complement the existing staff team to continue Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 supporting residents. The manager continues to let us know about things that happen at the home and contacts CQC for advice to ensure they manage their issues well. The home has investigated and managed two minor complaints since the last inspection; the home also receives a number of compliments. The manager and the companies operational manager ensures that standards are reviewed and remain high and the company maintain monthly inspection visits to ensure that residents continue to receive value for money. Our judgement resulting in the information showed that the home continues to provide a good service. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection within three years of the last inspection carried out in February 2008. However we can inspect at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 5 Reader Information
