What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection was performed. This included: The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the registered manager. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for service users. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Two responses to the ten service user surveys and five responses to the five staff surveys which were returned to us prior to performing the Annual Service Review. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints if applicable. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. What other people have told us about the service if applicable. What has this told us about the service? The registered manager sent us their Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home continues to meet regulatory requirements and that they know what further improvements are needed to the service. The Care Quality Commission has not received any concerns or complaints about the service in the since the last key inspection was performed on the 20.09.2008. Information provided by the registered manager states that one Safeguarding Adults investigation has been undertaken within the last 12 months. Our records show that the Safeguarding Adults issue has been fully investigated and appropriate actions have been taken to safeguard the service users. Information provided within the service user surveys told us that service users receive enough information about the home before they moved in so they can make an informed choice as to the suitability of the service in meeting their needs. Both service users told us in the service users surveys that they know who to speak to if they were not happy and they know how to make a formal complaint. Both service users told us in the service users surveys that staff are available when needed and stated that staff always listen and act on what they say. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The service users surveys asked What does the home do well comments included Staff work well together and Everybody does their best. The Have your Say pre inspection questionnaire asked staff What does the home do well, comments included We provide excellent care and enable our residents to maintain their independence and We maintain residents dignity, choice and individual needs. The registered manager continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and has shown she works well with us to provide good outcomes for the service users. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan. The next inspection of this service will be based on the Fees and Frequency Regulations (2007) and the assessment of risk. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
