What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information we have asked for or received about the home, since the last inspection. This information included the Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA), sent by and returned to the Commission from the homes manager. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also provides some statistical information about the service. The information provided in the AQAA was also checked against the findings as set out in the last inspection report. What has this told us about the service? The manager returned the completed annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) and we looked at the information provided. In our judgement the home is still providing an good service. Information taken from the AQAA states that home carries out its own quality assurance survey by seeking the views of residents, relatives and other health professionals. The management team is open and transparent in the day to day running of the home and is continuously seeking to improve the quality of service provision. As stated in the AQAA, the registered manager will within the next twelve months landscape the grounds to enhance all areas so that residents can access and enjoy the environment and river views; provide more seating areas, arbours and gazebos; develop a new activity room accessible to all residents; organise more outings for residents; increase the involvment of outside advocacy services and agencies and work towards accreditation in dementia care. With regard to equality and diversity, the registered manager has stated in the AQAA that all staff are trained in Equality and Diversity and the home has a policy and procedures in place for dealing with such issues should any arises. The staff team is from a multicultural background and have varied skill mix. The home offers religious services for residents from the local churches and other beliefs. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We can inspect the care home at any time if we have concerns about the care provided but there is no indication that an inspection is required in the immediate future. The next key inspection of the service will be undertaken within 1 year of the date of this review unless information received suggests that an earlier visit is necessary. As with all care services, information will continue to be gathered over the intervening period. The homes performance will be subject to a process of continual assessment and evaluation in the light of any information received, with appropriate regulatory action being taken as indicated.
