We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA), that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information received from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service.. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us a completed Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) by the date we requested it. The AQAA was well written and gave us information about what the service does well, any changes that have been made in the last 12 months and any plans for the coming year. The service told us they consult regularly with people using the service. Woodstock is a small home, where the people who use the service are part of the family. Because this is a small and relaxed environment, communication and informal chat take place continuously. The home has told us they act on any feedback they receive and views expressed by the people living at the home. The home has told us they have experienced some difficulties during the last 12 months due to the lack of qualified social workers available to support the people using the service. They have told us they work closely with the social workers and community nurses who are available and have tried to reduce the impact by continuing to promote the needs of the service users with health and social care professionals. The service lets us know about things that have happened that may affect the people living at the home. They have told us that no complaints have been received and they have not made any referrals to the safeguarding adults team. We have not received Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 any complaints about the service. The home has provided us with information that demonstrates they are continuing to provide good care. They have told us they provide people using the service with a good quality of life, a high standard of living and a safe and caring environment. Comprehensive care plans and risk assessments have been developed that reflect the individuality of the people living at the home. Our judgement is that the home continues to provide a good service and that they know what further developments they need to make in order to achieve continuous improvement. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and will do a key inspection by 17th of February 2012. However, we can inspect the service at any time if we had concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
