What did we do for this annual service review? To complete this Annual Service Review we looked at the information we have received about the home since our last visit; We asked the home to complete an Annual Quality Assurance Assessment or AQAA giving us information about how the home is run; We sent questionnaires to the people who live and work at the home; We looked at the way the home keeps us informed about events and incidents at the home - called notifications - which are a legal requirement. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their Annual Quality Assurance documentation when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us the information we needed, however would benefit from more information and detail being provided in some areas.. We have decided that on the information we have received the home is still providing good outcomes for the person who lives there. 1 Empire road is an establishment set up to cater for the needs of one person. One staff member of a team of three works at the home all the time the person lives there, and when they are out at work the staff may leave an answer phone on when no-one is at the premises. The home have told us that since the last inspection they have increased the amount of regular trips and walks, to shops, parks and the local football club; increased choices and decision making available for the individual; increased the persons levels of relaxation by encouraging them to have more autonomy; increased the persons contact with their family with regular meals out; provided new flooring in the kitchen and hallway; improved their physical well being with regular checks on their health needs; and increased the amount of staff training. They have also told us they plan to provide more outings to animal centres, steam train rides, bars and parks as the person wishes. There have been no complaints made about the service in the last year. The person who lives at the home was unable to complete the questionnaire sent but has regular contact with people who could independently advocate for them as needed. Staff working at the home told us there was Good team work between staff, Good communication between staff members and a good understanding of clients needs. They said they had the support they needed to do their job, including information and training. Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review?
