Annual Service Review Page 2 of 5 Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? In order to undertake this Annual Service Review (ASR) we requested the service to complete an Annual Quality Assurance Audit (AQAA) which they did in a satisfactory manner. We also examined our service folder for notifications, complaints, or safeguarding alerts. What has this told us about the service? The home currently has an acting care manager who completed the AQAA. We learnt from it that the home continues to promote equality and cultural diversity, discouraging any kind of discrimination. Residents are involved in their own care planning and are encouraged to use community services and local advocacy. Risk assessments and self-medication are reviewed every two months. The home says it listens to the wishes and views of residents and their families. The AQAA states that no residents have left or moved into the home in the last twelve months, there have been no complaints or safeguarding alerts. There has been no use of agency staff to cover shifts. Four of the six care staff have NVQ level 2 or above in care or health and social care. The home has installed a new bathroom, washing machine, microwave, kettle and dining set. Also the front door has been replaced with a more secure door. The AQAA stated that the home gets positive feedback from stakeholders who say how well groomed and happy the residents look. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? Based on the above positive evidence we will not change our plan to inspect this service before October 2010. However we may visit the service unannounced at any time should we believe that the quality or safety has changed.
