What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: - The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. - Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. - Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. - What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. - The previous key inspection. - Relevant information from other organisations. - What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) after asking for an extension to complete it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. People living in the home tell us that they are able to make choices, are treated well by the staff and are listened to. Staff tell us that they are always given up to date information about the needs of the people they support and care for. The home tells us that they plan to develop a care plan format to reflect individual needs and offer a clear plan of personal routines and how they wish to be supported. To get more involvement and interaction with individuals by improving the opportunities to develop independence skills such as cooking etc. A health professional told us that the home seems to be supportive in enabling people to access health services. The home told us on the AQAA all staff are encouraged to undertake regular training. Staff tell us that they receive training that is relevant to their role and keeps them up to date with new ways of working. The home has received four complaints in the past 12 months. We have not received any complaints about the home. The home tells us individuals have the complaints procedure in their rooms in a format devised to promote their understanding so that they can be in a better position to use it. People tell us that they know who to speak to if they are not happy and they know how to make a complaint. Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 The home currently has an acting manager as the registered manager is absent from the service. The home has told us that they will keep us informed of what is happening. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection or annual service review by 24th October 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 5 Reader Information
