What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at information that we have received and requested since the last key inspection. The Annual Quality Assessment Audit (AQAA) was sent out to the home and was completed and returned to CQC in a timely fashion. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. We sent comment cards to seek the views of people using the service, staff and health care professionals. This information has told us that the home continues to provide excellent outcomes for people using the service. The AQAA told us that the homes pre-admission procedures continue to ensure that placements are only offered to people when the home are confident that individuals needs and aspirations can be met. Short visits to the home enhance these procedures and provide people with an opportunity to test drive the home. Under the heading of what does the service do well, Health care professionals made the following comments; Oak Bungalow are good at identifying correct care immediately and for future care purchases, The home copes very well with short term care of residents with complex needs who are placed for respite or in an emergency. The AQAA told us that people have good opportunities for social stimulation both within the home and local community. The AQAA told us that the homes care planning systems ensure a consistent and person centered approach to care and that people are supported to take risks through the homes risk assessment process. It told us that people continue to benefit from a well trained workforce. Staff confirmed in the completed comment card that they had received the training needed to meet the needs of people using the service. Health care professionals responded usually to the question do managers and staff have the right skills and experience to support peoples social and health care needs A person Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 using the service told us in the completed comment card that staff and managers always listen and act on what they say and that they are always treated well by managers and staff at the home.
