This random inspection came about as a direct result of concerns raised by colleagues at both the Primary Care Trust and Social Services, and meetings held with those colleagues and senior managers from Southern Cross. A partial tour of the building was carried out to look at the redecoration and the new flooring, and to consider the overall state of the decor, and condition of the building in general. In addition the care records of three people who live at Whittington Care Centre were seen, together with nursing notes, and the staffing rota. Evidence of the involvement of outside health care professional was also seen, together with documentation relating to a referral to the Deprivation of Liberties Standards (DoLS) team.
