Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? Our last full inspection of this service took place on 11/10/07 when it was assessed that Wymondley was providing an excellent service to the people who live there. This meant we carried out an annual service review on 30/9/08. Annual service reviews do not include a visit to the service but are an assessment of risk. Our assessment at that time was that Wymondley continued to provide people with an excellent service. For this review we looked at all the information we have received, or asked for, since the last annual service review. This included: The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the manager. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Making surveys available to people who live and work at Wymondley so their views can be included in this assessment. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The annual self assessment (AQAA) was sent to us when we requested it. It contained detailed information that gives us confidence the home is being run in the best interests of the people who live there and the manager and owners continue to monitor the quality of the service. Three people living at Wymondley and their relatives, who completed surveys for us, told us that Wymondley is a family home that includes everyone. A relative said we looked at many homes before Wymondley, it stood out then as it stands out now being a place to regard as home in its widest sense, a real family run organisation. One person said the care their relative received was superb. Another person said they provide all round care with high standards in all areas. One person suggested a wet room style shower would be helpful for people who use wheelchairs. Five staff completed surveys for us. Their comments indicate their commitment to providing residents and their families with a high quality service. We have been kept up to date with events occurring in the home and it is our Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 assessment that the range and number of notifications are in line with the nursing service provided at Wymondley. We have not been contacted by any other health or social care professionals between our reviews. Our previous inspections and reviews indicate local doctors and social workers in contact with the home are positive about the standards of care provided. We have not received any complaints about this service and have been told that the company has not received any complaints either. The AQAA told us about the opportunities for involving residents in decisions about how the home is being run and future developments. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan for this service as our review indicates Wymondley continues to achieve positive outcomes for the people who live there in line with its excellent 3 star rating. We will carry out a key inspection during 2010 but can visit at any time is we have any concerns for the people who live at Wymondley.
