Following the last key inspection we made a requirement that accurate records must be made when medication is administered to people who live in the home. During the visit we inspected the medication administration records for the current month and all had been fully completed. This gave details of medication that had been administered to people and the staff member who provided the support. This requirement has been met. During the inspection of the medication records details were noted of an incident in which people did not receive the medication they were prescribed. This incident occured when a person who lives in the home was supported to go on holiday and some of their medication was left behind. As a result the person did not receive some of the medication they had been prescribed for the five days of the holiday. The incident was not reported until approximately four months later and is currently being investigated by the provider. During the visit we inspected the training records of three staff members and each person had received medication training since November 2008. The training plan indicated that all but one member of staff had completed the medication training. The deputy manager reported that the member of staff that has not completed the training does not administer any medication to people. Following the last inspection we made a requirement that the fire alarm must be tested regularly. During the visit we inspected the fire alarm testing record for the current year, which indicated the alarm had been tested every week. This requirement has been met.
