Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? This is the second Annual Service Review (ASR) undertaken for this service. In order to complete it, we requested the service complete an Annual Quality Assurance Assessment AQAA for us, which they did. We also examined our service record. What has this told us about the service? The AQAA was completed to a high standard. It told us that the home takes into account the views of residents, their families and their social workers. It told us that the decor of the home has been refreshed, activities have been increased, the menu has changed according to the preferences of residents, and cultural food and movies have been purchased for them. Further the service says it plans to integrate equality and diversity into every aspect of the running of the home. Residents have access to an Afro-Carribean advocate. We were told that staff continue to undergo training and 80 are now qualified in health and social care. The home has received no complaints and there have been no safeguarding referrals and no medical emergencies. A number of appropriate health specialists were listed as being involved in the care of residents. A number of safety services and tests have been carried out on fire equip ment etc. and the home has reviewed its key policies. The service record showed we had received no complaints, adverse notificatons or safeguarding alerts regarding the service since the last ASR. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? On the basis of the above positive evidence regarding the service, we are not going to bring the key inspection forward but will undertake it before October 2010 We can however visit the home unannounced at any time or bring the key inspection forward should this be indicated.
