What the care home does well
Although most of the residents experience communication difficulties, they are given the opportunity for a wide range of personal development and leisure activities and were seen to be relaxed, cheerful and comfortable with staff. There are various systems in place to monitor the healthcare needs of the residents and staff showed a high level of awareness of good practice and of individual residents` needs. They also commented on the high level of support provided by the manager and two deputy managers for work, training and personal issues. Quality assurance is given a high priority and any feedback from residents and/or their families or advocates is acted upon. The general management of the home and completion of records are of a high standard.
What has improved since the last inspection?
New medication cupboards have been installed, training in behaviour management has been provided and staffing and recruitment procedures have been reviewed.
What the care home could do better:
There are some areas around the home which require attention but the inspector acknowledges that this is the responsibility of the housing association responsible for the premises.
