Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last inspection. This included:The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. the AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using this service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. The previous key inspection report and the results of any other visits we have made to the service in the last twelve months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The service returned the AQAA when we asked for it. This identified areas that have improved in the last year and others where further developments are planned. This included good evidence that the service seeks the views of the people who use this service and other stakeholders. The home has sound quality assurance systems in place. The AQAA told us that there is a new format for the surveys that are sent to residents nd their relatives. The surveys now seek views on areas for improvement as well as opinions about the dayto-day running of the home. The residents continue to hold regular meetings that are chaired by a service user. A number of improvements and changes in the home have been made as a result of feedback from residents and relatives. There is a wide range of activities in the home and recently a barbecue and Caribbean evening, and monthly themed meals and quiz nights, to which families and friends are invited, have proved very popular. There have been a number of environmental improvements in the last twelve months. A new stair lift has been fitted, a new washing machine has been purchased to ensure better infection control and work has been carried out in the garden to make it more accessible. There is an ongoing improvement plan for the environment and this includes the possibility of creating a wildlife section in the garden. The AQAA told us that staffing levels have been increased and a new team leader has been appointed. There have been significant improvements in staff training, including work on the Liverpool Care Pathway for terminally ill people that has now been implemented in the home. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The home values equality and diversity and staff have recently received further training on this subject. The staff team have a wide range of cultural backgrounds and bring their experience to enhance the lives of the residents. Care in the home is person centred and led by individual needs and wishes. The home continues to be well managed. The registered manager communicates well with the Commission and the registered providers continue to take an active interest in the running of the home and visit regularly. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? There will be no change in the inspection plan as a result of this Annual Service Review. It should be noted that we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people who use this service.
