What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? They sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA). It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that they are still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. The AQAA stated the home provides the following; Regular one to one meetings with residents and family members to gain their views. The opportunity and separate accommodation for friends and family to visit and have overnight stays. A trial period of up to eight weeks for potential residents to test out the home. Free view/Satellite television. Access to the internet. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 7 Regular reviews of care and updating of records to ensure staff are aware of residents changing needs We received survey comments from three staff members, and four service users and/or their relatives. All continue to be very satisfied with the quality of the care provided, the training staff receive and the support from management. Some service users said; The home is like a family I am very happy here I got information about the home before I moved in The staff are very kind and help me The staff are excellent This is a lovely place to live Some staff said; The home provides a homely, secure environment Residents would benefit from more daily activities The support and care offered is very good Residents have lots of choice The majority of staff have been here many years Some improvements to the home since the last inspection were identified in the AQQA as; Four residents bedrooms have been decorated, and additional furniture has been purchased for two bedrooms. A new on call system has been installed A new refrigerator has been purchased An ex member of staff will be returning as a volunteer to do one to one activities with the residents The service continues to work well with us and let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection. They have shown that they manage issues well. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 7 What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 30th September 2010.
