What the care home does well
It was established through discussions with the residents at the home that Sutton Court Residential Home continues to provide a pleasant, safe and homely environment for its residents. The homes environment is conducive to achieving optimum independence, comfort and enjoyment for the residents. Staff employed at the home are provided with the opportunity to attend mandatory training courses to ensure they are equipped with the skills and knowledge to promote the safety of the residents. Residents spoken with stated that staff within the home respected their privacy and dignity at all times and the residents did not raise any issues of concern whatsoever. Residents are provided with a varied and stimulating social activities programme within the home. Transport is available to the residents to access activities beyond the homes immediate environment and residents are actively encouraged to develop and maintain contact within the broader community. A case tracked residents and visitors to the home stated that they felt safe within the home and that concerns or complaints are dealt with effectively and professionally.
What has improved since the last inspection?
The previous inspection performed on 23rd January 2006 did not highlight any issues of concern.
What the care home could do better:
Elements of care identified within the residents care plans had not always been addressed effectively within the daily evaluation documentation. The manager at the home is currently reformatted the care planning process so as to provide a robust process to address and evaluate the resident`s needs. The registered person should complete the reformatting process by 30th November 2006 so all the residents care-planning documentation is fit for purpose and residents needs can be met by care staff.
