What the care home does well

The records showed that each individual was supported to have the necessary medical treatment from their GP`s and other health practitioners. They also provided good evidence that their families were involved with the decision making for care and support.

What the care home could do better:

The registered manager and provider should ensure that they meet their responsibilities to inform the commission of any significant health risk or event, such as a residents death, as soon as possible. They should also ensure that they take action to minimise the potential for the risk of the spread of infection around the home, this should be in the form of consultation with the relevant authorities. Current practices in the home do not meet those identified in the Department of Health, Infection Control Guidance for Care Home 2006, as good practice to reduce the risk the people living and working in the home.
