Annual Service Review Page 2 of 6 Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was returned to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Responses to any surveys we sent out. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations including those who commission this service on behalf of social services clients. What other people have told us about the service. A telephone interview with the Registered Manager on 16th June, 2009. What has this told us about the service? The AQAA returned from the service noted the following improvements in the last 12 months: -A new deputy has been appointed to share the managers duties and give senior care staff more time to spend with the care team. -The home now has a dedicated activities organiser. -The standex record system has been introduced. -The building has been extended and refurbished, and a new sign erected outside. We have also purchased a new plasma screen TV for the residents lounge. -The gardens have been professionally landscaped, with a water feature as requested by residents. -The induction manual for new staff has been improved, and the home has attained the Investors in People Award. -The manager now visits each resident in their room each morning. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The concern regarding the fire safety arrangements noted during the last inspection has now been resolved. A copy of the letter from the fire service, confirming that arrangements are now satisfactory, was copied to the Commission following a visit by the fire service. Eight surveys were returned to the Commission from residents, staff, and health professionals who know this service. A number of complimentary remarks were made including, from a relative; Kind, efficient, very caring. My Mother is very lucky. And a health care professional wrote: They are an excellent home, especially the manager. Keep up the good work. No complaints or safeguarding referrals have been notified to the Commission about this service in the last 12 months. The manager said the home had received 4 complaints which have now all been satisfactorily concluded. The previous inspection report from the visits on 30th July and 8th August 2008 rated this home as 2 Star and noted that All of the residents told the inspector that they liked living at the home and that the service provided was good. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? This Annual Service Review was carried out on 16th June 2009.
