We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Information we may have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and it is a legal requirement for the service to tell us about them. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA), returned by the manager, provided current details about the home including areas where action had been taken to make improvements. Information contained within the AQAA states that the service is dedicated to promoting and incorporating the views of the people who use the service . In order to ensure that the views of the Service Users are included as part of the service their involvement in this regularly sought, including regular reviewing and updating/actioning. The AQAA provided details of the importance of Promoting independence and to encourages Service User participation where possible in aspects of running home and recruiting staff in order to fulfil their potential . The service also encourages the involvement of the families of the people who use the service to become involved in the development of the service their family member receives. The AQAA provided information in respect to equality and diversity, to ensure good practise is promoted. The manager states in the AQAA that the service continue to expand the programme of activities on offer to the service users. The activities are designed to ensure that the people who use the service participate in a wide variety of appropriate events that meet their individual and group needs. The completed AQAA provides information that the service has received one complaint in the last twelve months, which was resolved using appropriate guidelines and within a set time frame. The Commission has received no complaints for forwarding to the service, since the last inspection. The service has in the last twelve months had five safeguarding referrals. Three of the referrals were investigated under the Surrey County Councils Safeguarding procedures. The AQAA indicates a responsive service which seeks to continually develop and improve. Our judgement is that the home continues to provide a good service, which is effectively meeting the care needs of the people who use the service. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review?
