What the care home does well As stated above, the records required for the use of PRN medication are now in place. Since the last Inspection staffing levels have increased and the Manager now has more time to undertake her administrative duties. The Manager works one shift per week with the care staff which enables her to monitor staff whilst they are supporting residents to ensure that their needs are being met. Training has improved since the last Inspection. The Manager and staff told us that this now covers a range of subjects relevant to meeting the residents needs. It is registered to provide nursing care to up to 28 older people. Bedrooms are on the ground and first floors and consist of three double and twentytwo single rooms; twelve bedrooms have en suite facilities. The home has a limited variety of communal rooms for service users to use and a shaft lift is provided to assist service users from the ground to the first floor. Austhorpe House is set in approximately two acres of gardens with seating areas for the residents and wheelchair friendly pathways. Fees range from £490 to £665 per week. Care Homes for Older People Page 3 of 7 What we found: The service last had a Key Inspection in August 2007, when it was rated as good. Since then it had had two service reviews. A visit was made to this service on June 2nd 2010. We found that the service had complied with the requirements made at the last Key Inspection. These included ensuring that all residents who are prescribed PRN (as required) medicines had care plans in place to justify the continued use of these medicines. Since the last Inspection the Manager has completed the registration process with the Commission.
