Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. Note Due to technical reasons the information on page 1 and 2 of this report is incomplete. The last key inspection was undertaken on the 5th February 2008 when the quality rating was judged as excellent. An annual service review was undertaken on the 26th January 2009. We are planning to undertake a key inspection by the 5th February 2011. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgment is that the home is still providing a good service and that they have an ongoing improvement plan. People told us that they always received the care and support that they needed and that staff were always or usually available when they needed them. One person said they always come when I need them, I never have to wait long. They said that the home always supported them to get the medical care that they needed. The local general practitioners were satisfied with the care that their patients received and one said it is a well run home with the care of the residents uppermost in their priorities. Of the eleven people who returned the surveys three said that they always liked the meals, five that they usually liked the meals and three that they sometimes liked the meals. People told us that they knew who to speak to informally if they were not happy and Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 how to make a formal complaint. Families told us that they were always welcomed and were very positive about the care their family member received. One relative said my mother has been at Bartletts for six years and the care she receives is exemplary, another that there are always plenty of staff around and such attention to detail. When asked what the home does well, one family member said the management of the home, the communication and friendliness of the home is first class. Staff said that they felt supported and received training. They said that they had received training in safeguarding people and that they knew what to do if someone had concerns about the home. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection. The manager said in the AQAA that she had received 3 complaints during the last year all of which had been resolved. We are not aware of any safeguarding concerns which are made to the local authority which is the lead agency in these matters. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and will do a key inspection by 5 February 2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
