No 0 5 1 1 2 0 0 8 Annual Service Review Page 2 of 5 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: 1. The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. 2. Surveys returned to us by one person using the service and the person providing their support. 3. The previous key inspection, which took place on the 5th November 2008. 4. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service. What has this told us about the service? We looked at the information within the AQAA. Mrs Galley told us that with the support from professionals the persons health, wellbeing and diet had improved. They were regularly supported to go to the dentist and had good support from the local health centre. All appointments were kept up to date. The AQAA stated that work had been undertaken with the persons day service in order to get the person a new wheelchair. Mrs Galley also had a new car with wheelchair access. The AQAA stated that systems were in place to ensure that any concerns, allegations or complaints were taken seriously. Mrs Galley said that she worked to the complaints procedure of the placing authority. She said she had not received any complaints but would take them very seriously, if raised. Mrs Galley said that she had regular contact with the persons care manager, day services and respite services. She provided transport so she could meet with the staff and discuss any issues. The AQAA stated the resident can make some choice to a limited degree but other decision making would always be discussed with the residents care manager. We saw that keeping up to date on all the local policy for the protection of vulnerable adults, was something Mrs Galley said she could improve upon. The AQAA stated I keep a daily diary to record events and record the meals taken. I keep a close eye on the residents health and wellbeing and refer any concerns to the GP. Mrs Galley said that over the last twelve months, recording had improved. The person had a care plan in place. They also had a care plan at their day service and respite service. Making sure the persons care plans were consistent and in order was identified as something Mrs Galley could improve upon. The AQAA stated that the persons bedroom had been decorated and a new television had been purchased. Mrs Galley said the room was clean, comfortable and had the persons certificates and photographs displayed. We saw that equipment was in place so that the environment was more accessible for the person. The AQAA stated we take pride in ensuring the residents clothes are well laundered. We saw that the person using the service was unable to comment on the questions we asked within the survey, due to their health care condition. Mrs Galley had completed Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 the survey on their behalf. Mrs Galley said that she knew when the person was unhappy. She said she always listened to the person and acted on what they said. Mrs Galley told us that she promoted the persons privacy and dignity. She gained advice, as required in order to meet the persons social and health care needs. Mrs Galley said the home was always fresh and clean. Since the last inspection, there have not been any notifications about any incident, which has affected the persons wellbeing. We have not received any complaints about the service since the last inspection. There have not been any issues, which have been referred to the local safeguarding procedures. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? The information available, gives evidence that 4 Bath Road is continuing to provide good outcomes for the person it supports. However, in the event of any incidents which affect the persons well being, we may consider undertaking an inspection of the service earlier than the anticipated date of 5th November 2010.
