Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: - The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. - Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. - Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. - What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. - The previous key inspection. What has this told us about the service? The AQAA was returned to us on time and did include the information we asked for. However, the form was brief and most answers were provided with one sentence. This document needs to be improved for the future. We received three completed service user surveys and two from staff. The service users were generally satisfied with the service provided. One service user said that the carers show concern for them and outings are arranged. Two said they always liked the meals and one said they sometimes liked the meals. One noted that there was excellent choice and variety of meals, another said meals could be better balanced. Activities are enjoyed by service users. Two service users felt that the laundry service and attention to clothing could be better. One service user mentioned that there could be greater social interaction between care staff and service users and this view was also expressed by a staff member. One staff survey noted that they never met with the manager to discuss their work whereas another staff survey said they met the manager regularly. One staff member felt there could be better team work. We recently became aware of an incident which had happened in the home but we were not informed by the home. This was an issue which should have been reported to us under the legislation and we have spoken with the registered individual about this. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and will do a key inspection by 26th October 2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
