Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This includes: Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The manager advised that the home had not been sent an annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) to complete. However the manager was available to discuss the requirements from the last inspection, carried out on the 13th November 2008, and confirmed that they have all been addressed. The manager advised that risk assessments are completed for the use of bed barriers, and that the residents or their representatives sign consent forms for their use. The administration of medicines has been reviewed and systems are in place to protect residents. The activity organiser has developed a range of activities, depending on the preferences of the residents, and these are recorded in their care plans. The records for checking windows has been reviewed and the maintenance person completes a checklist for each room. Formal supervision has been arranaged and the manager has a record sheet available to ensure all staff attend. Two service user surveys were completed and reflected that the home provides appropriate care and support for the residents. The responses highlighted that meals and entertainment are good, and the only negative comment was that the home can be noisy. This was discussed with the manager who will be looking into this issue. One staff survey was completed which stated that staff training is good and the manager offers staff support. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last inspection. They work well with us, and following discussions regarding meeting residents needs more appropriate alternative arrangements are being made for one Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 resident. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key unannounced inspection by 12th November 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
