Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organizations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. The AQAA was well completed and provided us with information which told us about how the service was maintaining and improving standards. We were told in the AQAA that the service employs 17 care workers, 16 of whom have completed the Skills for Care Induction training and 15 of whom hold the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2. This means that staff are being provided with guidance and training to enable them to care for people using the service. In the AQAA, the manager stated that only two of the care workers had left the service in the last 12 months. This means that people who use the service received support from people they knew. In the AQAA the manager told us that the service had received one complaint in the last 12 months which had been satisfactorily concluded. There had not been any adult safeguarding referrals made in the past 12 months. In the AQAA the manager told us that they carry out regular meetings and audits to find out whether people who use the service and their relatives/representatives are satisfied with the service they received. We were told that one outcome of quality questionnaires was information concerning the service providing good support to meet peoples mental health needs, but the need to offer adequate health screening, Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 including regular visits from opticians and dentists. The service had taken action to address this in the interests of people using the service. This demonstrated that the service uses quality assurance monitoring to ensure that they can achieve ongoing improvement. We did not receive surveys from people who use the service or staff. We have considered all the information available to us, and our judgment is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? The Care Quality Commission will continue to monitor information about this service and will carry out an inspection when required.
