What did we do for this annual service review? This report contains information that we have received about the Home since the last Key Inspection (November 2007). It includes information contained within the Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) which the Manager returned to us and information within the surveys that were returned to us from staff (6) and residents (4). We have also considered information provided in notifications from the Home and any other information that has been provided to us about this Home. At the time of the lsat Key Inspection the Home was assessed as providing GOOD outcomes for the people who live there. What has this told us about the service? The AQAA contains information about the current standard of care provided to the residents as well as detailing the improvements made in the last year and any further improvements that are planned. For example, the AQAA states that the Home continues to work within the Gold Standard Framework which promotes a more individual plan of care and that one of the improvements as a result of this has been to develop memory boxes with residents. Another improvement is that the Home now have input from the Falls Team to obtain advice that will assist in maintaining residents health and mobility and to prevent hospital admissions. The AQAA includes examples of improvements that have continued to be made to the accommodation. These include the upgrading of the kitchen and one of the communal toilets. Two sheltered arbors have been added to the garden and new chairs have been provided on the front veranda. The AQAA states that the Home has not had any complaints in the last year, nor have there been any referrals to the Safeguarding team. The Commission has not received any complaints about the service in the last year. The responses within the staff surveys are positive about the Home. All state that appropriate checks were carried out prior to them starting to work at the Home and that they receive good support and training. Additional comments were made such as: the Home is run really well , the manager and staff work well together , the manager is brilliant, they are good at keeping our training up to date. The responses within the residents surveys were mainly positive although two did indicate that activities are only available sometimes and that they only like the meals sometimes. Additional comments were made in the residents surveys such as: the carers are good at listening and caring. The only negative comment was that the staff need to spend more time with residents however there was no further explanation of this comment. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 A Key Inspection will be carried out by 9th November 2010. However, the service can be inspected at any time if the Commission have any concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
