What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. In the AQAA they said not all staff members can attend regular training sessions due to their personal and family commitments. They are arranging the teaching/training dates to suit the individual needs as much as we possibly can. Other things they have told us that have happened in the service are called notifications and are a legal requirement. We looked at the previous key inspection report. Five staff responded to the CQC survey we sent. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgment is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. We were told the home strives to provide a good service that meets the complex needs of the residents while at the same time remaining focused on their rights and wishes. Residents are supported to take risks as part of an independent lifestyle. Risk management strategies are in place and reviewed as appropriate. Risk assessments cover behaviors and activities at home and in the wider community. The home understands residents need to take risks in their lives in order to grow and develop as individuals. Staff said the home gives adequate training but would like more training around People with Learning Disabilities. There is good training for personal development. Regular up date of residents progress to their families. Provides good care by staff of the same gender in a clean homely environment. They feel having their own transport could enhance the residents lives because they would be able to access more activities and holidays. They would like to see more policies and procedures in user friendly format. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 12th August 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 5 Reader Information
