Mr Khemchand Hurril owns the home. The home is situated in a residential area in Enfield and is easily accessible by public transport. The premises are constructed of two floors with the lounge and dining areas on the ground floor. There are five bedrooms on the ground floor and five bedrooms upstairs. Two bedrooms are shared. There is a very attractive large conservatory at the rear of the property, which leads onto a well-maintained garden and patio. The fees are #380 a week. What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information we have received, or ask for since the last inspection. This included: the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for residents. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. We also looked at the information we have about how the service manages any complaints, and what the service has told us about things that have happened, These are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits we have made to the service the last 12 months, are likely to relevant information from other organisation and what people have told us about the service were also considered as part of this review What has this told us about the service? High trees residential home sent us an (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. The AQAA was detailed and show that the home has continued to improve the care and support it provides for residents. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the service is still providing excellent outcomes for residents. They know what further improvements they need to make. At the last key inspection all the key outcome areas of health and personal care, safeguarding and management were found to be excellent or good. Residents told us they were happy living at High Trees Residential Home. The AQAA showed us that there had been continuing improvement to the home and the support provided to residents. Residents have told us they are happy to be living at High Trees Residential Home. The annual quality assurance assessment highlighted that, At High Trees we place great value on the views of our residents and their families. We acknowledge that this is their home. People can be confident that High Trees is managed in a way that maintains their well-being and safety. Residents at High Trees come from diverse backgrounds. The AQAA showed us that the home sees meeting these needs as a central part of the care and support that is provided for residents. Residents have confirmed that they are treated with respect and valued by staff. The annual quality assurance assessment confirmed that, Residents cultural and religious needs are respected and promoted. At the last key inspection we found that care plans highlighted residents cultural needs. Residents are supported in ways that respect and promote their cultural needs and identities. Residents living at high trees residential home confirmed that they were satisfied with the care and support they receive. They told us that they were properly treated and respected by staff. We looked at the AQAA and it showed us that staff had received appropriate training to make sure that they continue to have the skills to meet residents needs. At the last key inspection we found that staff had the skills to meet the needs of residents. They understood the individual needs of residents. Residents confirm that staff understood their needs. The annual quality assurance assessment highlighted that, We have a training and development programme in place. High trees residential home make sure that staff have the necessary skills to meet the needs of residents. Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 High trees continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection. We looked at notifications that had been received since the last key inspection and found that they showed that safety issues are all ways addressed. They have shown that they have managed issues well. The AQAA told us that the home has continued to monitor the quality of service it provides. The AQAA highlighted that, We have a effective quality assurance system in place. We believe that residents and their families should play a central role in determining how the home is run. The quality of the service is continuously monitored to ensure the best outcomes for residents. There were no requirements made at the last key inspection. The home has continued to address any issues that might have arisen. The AQAA showed us that the home continues to make improvements for the benefit of residents. High Trees addresses any areas of improvement to make sure that residents are safe and get the care they need. There have been no complaints or safeguarding allegations since the last key inspection. The AQAA confirmed that the service maintains an open culture where individuals are supported to share any concerns. At the last key inspection residents confirmed that they knew how to raise concerns and complaints. They commented that they felt these had always been addressed. The AQAA confirmed that, At High Trees we value complaints, and use them to evaluate and improve our service. Residents know that High Trees residential home has an open culture where their complaints will be listened to and acted upon. High Trees residential home works well with us and has shown us that their service continues to provide excellent outcomes for residents. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by the 19th November 2010.
