Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for since the last key inspection. This included, the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that should be sent to us by the service, which is is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. We have drawn on the findings of the most recent key inspection or random inspection reports and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. we have received no surveys from residents or members of staff at the time of writing this report. Other information we have collected may include how the service has managed any complaints or adult protection procedures. We take into account what the organisation has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. What has this told us about the service? Statements in the last report included. There are effective care planning systems in place for individuals to benefit from receiving an individualised and consistent service. They can expect to be involved in making decisions about all aspects of their care. There are good support systems in place for residents to lead active and interesting lifestyles and to be valued members of the community. Individuals can expect sensitive and prompt support for their personal and health care needs from a skilled staff team. Medication systems are safe. There is a competent, qualified and skilled staff team who are well supervised. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection although there has been very few notifications, they have been managed appropriately. The annual quality assurance assessment had not been returned by the time this report was written although records indicate it was requested in April 09. In combination with the lack of surveys it cannot be established that standards have been maintained or improved. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We looked at the information in recent reports. The lack of surveys and AQAA is a concern and our judgement is that due to a lack of information we cannot conclude that the home is still providing a good service. We are going to change our inspection plan, and will do a random inspection or bring forward a key inspection to ensure quality of the service and the safety of the people using the service are being maintained.
