What did we do for this annual service review? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for it. We sent surveys for people to complete and received seven completed surveys from people who use the service, eight from staff and one from a professional. The service indicated to us in the AQAA that they elicit information on the service from people who use the service and relatives by the use of surveys and meetings. There are also support groups and fund raising events. As a result of listening to people the home told us that they have made the following improvements, a residents charter has been introduced, trips out have increased, there are more hairdressing hours and more laundry assistant hours. Regular Communion has been re introduced. The AQAA told us that redecoration has been ongoing and the home has full wheelchair access. The surveys we received all indicated ongoing satisfaction with the home. Some people who use the service added commented, They provide a very warm, friendly, homely atmosphere and regular meetings and newsletters keep us informed,We are very happy with all aspects of Linfield, it is more like a first class hotel than a care home, This is an outstanding care home and Linfield provides first class accommodation. All expressed satisfaction with the food, The chef provides a varied menu. One relative brought to our attention the fact the the laundry is sometimes incorrectly placed in peoples cupboards. This may be something that will be rectified by the home increasing laundry assistant hours. Another said there were gaps in staffing during change of shifts. Six of the surveys we received from staff were positive on all aspects of the home, commenting, We provide a lot of activities for people, the home gives a high standard of care, It is well staffed with competent carers, provides an exceptional amount of training. All of these six surveys were happy with the support in the home. One staff survey did comment on low pay and another commented on wanting more contact with the registered manager. The AQAA told us that staffing has been increased and training is encouraged. The professional survey received was positive on all aspects of the home. What has this told us about the service? The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan at present, and will do a key inspection by 29/10/10. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
