Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information we have received or asked for since the last key, or main inspection on 21st July 2008, when we also gave this home a good quality rating of two stars. The information we have considered includes a self assessment completed by the manager. In this document the manager explained to us how good she thinks the home is at meeting the needs of people living in the home. We read surveys returned to us from people living and staff working at the home. We checked to see if we have information about complaints concerning the home, and considered what the home has told us about things happening at the home. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service, is making improvements, and knows what further improvements it needs and wants to make. The AQAA made clear that finding out the opinions of people living at the home and their families is given priority, and that developing staff and keeping them up to date is important. Four residents at the home sent us surveys and they told us that they are happy at the home. They indicated that they always make decisions, do what they want, and they are confident about making a complaint if they need to. Comments they made were I like my room; Food is good; I would like an outing to the seaside; I am happy here; The home looks after me well. Staff told us that they like working at the home and that there is good communication with all members of staff. The home has continued to let us know about things happening at the home since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown that the home continues to provide good outcomes for people living in it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 21st July 2010. However we can inspect the home at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people living there.
