What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what improvements they need to make. In their AQAA the home told us: We do the following to ensure that race, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation, age, religion and belief are promoted and incorporated into what we do: We encourage the people who use our service to attend the daily mass and if they are unable to do so then individual communion can be delivered in their room. As services in the small church opposite arise, all people who use our service can view the services through their TV. All people who use our service are respected and treated accordingly. Staff understands that everyone should be respected and that each individual has differences. We have developed person centred care plans to make sure that residents individuality is. All dietary needs are met in the home according to religious or other requirements and preferences. We have an equality and diversity policy which is highlighted to all staff when they start employment. Staff undertake training including SoVA. We have been delivering training and encouraging the development of person centred care planning. We have continued to encourage attendance at mass or delivery of pastoral care in residents rooms when this is not possible. We have allocated a member of staff to the Oratory to give support to the Religious Sisters and to be there for the needs of the residents. In their AQAA the home also informed us since the last inspection the following changes and improvements have been implemented: We have continued to train and develop staff to gain NVQ qualification and on going professional development. The home has shown that they have managed issues well. No complaints have been received by CSCI the previous regulator or CQC since the last Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 inspection. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for people who use the service. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 31th July 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
