What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information we had received on the home since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included, the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. We looked at surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service and information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. We also looked at what the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. We looked at the previous key inspection of 23/07/08 and relevant information from other organisations and people with an interest in the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear but some sections lacked detail . We sent surveys for people to complete and received six completed surveys from people who use the service. The service indicated to us in the AQAA that they listen to people who use the service but they do not have formal meetings with them. The AQAA did not state if other quality assurance systems are in place but the key announced inspection report of 23/07/08 indicated that people who use the service and their relatives are surveyed. The home has an in house activities programme and takes people on trips out. The AQAA told us that redecoration has been ongoing and further work is to be undertaken in the garden. The surveys we received all indicated ongoing satisfaction with the home. Some people who use the service added commented, They provide a warm, friendly service,We are happy with the care. All expressed satisfaction with the food. There is an ongoing training programme for staff with staff completing National Vocational Qualification Level 2 in care. Five staff have completed some dementia training, five have completed health and nutrition and four staff have completed medication training. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 We are not going to change our inspection plan at present, and will do a key inspection by 23/07/10. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
