Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. What has this told us about the service? The service sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for, but would benefit from continued further development. This has been discussed with the Manager who has agreed to address this with any future submissions. It details improvements made over the last twelve months, and these include: Staff training has continued to be highlighted, residents continue to be recognised as individuals, more plants have been put in the garden, residents bedrooms are being completely refurbished as they become vacant, a programme is in place to replace the televisions in the home to digital models, a larger wardrobe has been fitted in one bedroom to meet a residents needs, the car park has been marked out to enable more parking spaces to be provided and all the care workers now hold National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 in care. The Manager has also confirmed that a further two residents bedrooms have had ensuite facilities provided. The AQAA also details further development plans over the next twelve months. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the service is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. The last key inspection was undertaken on 9 October 2007 and the report was generally positive about the services provided and all but one of the outcome areas were rated as good with staffing rated as adequate. At the time residents and visitors to the home were able to comment about the service provided and residents spoken with and who completed the surveys were generally positive about the services offered by the home. One Requirement and no Recommendations were made following the last inspection. The Manager has previously confirmed that the Requirement has been addressed. An Annual Service Review was undertaken on 21 July 2008. Further feedback was sought from residents and care workers and no concerns were raised through the feedback. Further feedback from residents and care workers through surveys has been sought for this review and again has provided positive feedback about the service provided. Residents comments received included when asked what the home does well, looks after us and takes good care of us, it satisfies all my needs, the carers are a very Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 happy team who are always kind and helpful. The home is very clean and efficiently run. Activities are interesting and well organised. I appreciate that everyone is happy and helpful here, providing adequate food, very good, the care provided is good. The staff make the home a happy well run place, it is friendly, cosy and I am very contented here, and meals, care and attention, comfort and friendliness. The AQAA details there has been no complaints made and no safeguarding adults referrals made since the last review. The CQC have not been made aware of any concerns. The AQAA details the organisation has a system in place for monitoring its own standards of care delivery. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? There will be no change to the inspection plan and will do a key inspection by 9 October 2010. However, we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
