What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by residents, staff and health and social care professionals. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection report. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing an excellent service and continually works to identify areas for improvement to further enhance all aspects of care provision in the home. We received comments from 10 residents living in the home. They are very pleased with the high standard of care they receive at the home, and state that the home ensures they received the medical care they need. They know who to speak with if they are not happy, and also how to raise a formal complaint should the need arise. They enjoy the meals provided and also the activity provision at the home. They state that the home is kept clean and fresh. Comments received about the home and the staff included: looks after people well and feeds them well. gives me time and helps me in the mornings. I am happy at the home. Meals are well cooked and presented. The rooms are vacuumed every day. They always make me laugh and are very friendly. They look after me and help me. I am happy with the home and the staff. I like the meals. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 We received comments from 3 health care professionals. They all expressed satisfaction with the care provided at the home, and indicated that medical needs, to include specialist care needs, are being well met at the home. Also that the manager and staff have the right skills and experience to support the social and health care needs of the residents. Comments received included: I think they are doing a very good job, with great concern and attention to the residents. Hard working staff and a very good management. Staff are always polite and caring. They continue to strive professionally and clinically for excellence at all times. I would say it is a pleasure for any relative knowing that their loved one is being cared for with dignity. We received comments from 7 staff working at the home. They indicated that they undertake good induction training, and receive the training and updates they require to provide them with the skills and knowledge to care for residents effectively. They also indicate that the manager is supportive and that they are provided with appropriate information about the residents to help them to get to know them and enhance the care they provide. Comments received included: The home offers individualised care as well as palliative care. The staff and residents are very happy and we have a homely atmosphere. Give quality care for the service users. The home provides the best care for each resident according to their need. During the last 12 months we also received a letter from a representative praising the high standard of care provided at the home. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 15th December 2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
