Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear, detailed and gave us all the information that we asked for. We also contacted the manager to further discuss some of the issues identified in the AQAA. They have clear ideas of how the service can be improved. We received one survey back from a relative. This survey confirmed that the family had been given enough information about the home to help them decide if it was right for their relative and they were given a contract detailing the homes terms and conditions. The relative believed that medical care and support was always given and that staff were usually available when needed. They knew how to make a complaint and considered the home to be always fresh and clean. In the absence of any other surveys we asked the manager to send us a copy of the homes survey results, which they did. The results showed that people were generally very positive about the home. The only complaint that the Care Quality Commission has received was one that the registered manager of the home sent to us, keeping us informed of how the complaint was being investigated and its eventual outcome. There have been five adult protection investigations that the home have been involved with during the last twelve months. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since out last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. We looked at all the information and our judgment is that the home is still providing a good service and outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 31 March 2011. However, we can inspect services at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
