What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection, which was carried out on the 13 November 2008 and this included; The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) on time. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. The last key inspection and the AQAA shows that the home has policies and procedures available for residents regarding complaints and the AQAA told us that the home has not received any complaints since the last inspection of the service. The home has given us information on what they have achieved since the last key inspection, for example; they told us that an extra member of staff has been employed in the mornings and this enables staff to spend more time with residents. We were told that they have made the home more homely and it is now much brighter and a new carpet has been laid in the main lounge area. The home has also indentified areas where they could do better and told us what they intend to do to improve the service. They told us that they intend to improve by having more consultation with the people who use the service and they are looking at providing more outings for residents. We sent out surveys to interested parties to obtaion thier views on how the home was meeting the needs of residents. We received responses back from 3 members of staff and 1 health care professional. All of the responses received back were positive and staff told us that the home provides a homely and relaxed atmosphere for residents. A health care professional told us that the home provides good care for the people who Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 use the service. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown us that they have managed them well. The home works well with us and they have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people that use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by the 11 November 2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
