Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. We also looked at the surveys we sent out to service users, staff and health and social care professionals involved in the home. We considered any information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. We considered what the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. We looked at the previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. We also considered any relevant information from other organisations, and what other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgment is that the home is still providing a excellent service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their home continues to provide excellent outcomes for the people who use it. We sent out 10 surveys to service users, but none were returned. Of the 10 staff surveys sent out, six were returned. They told us that staff feel they given good training that helps them understand and meet the needs of the residents; that they get good support from their manager; and that they know what to do if someone has concerns about the home. They said they have enough support, experience and knowledge to meet the different needs of the people who live in the home. They said there is usually enough staff to meet the individual needs of the residents. In reply to the question, what does the home do well?, comments included, In my opinion, everything. We try our best to ensure that we can adapt our approach to meet the needs of of all our residents; Provides good support and care to all residents to meet their individual needs; I feel we provide a very good standard of personcentred care; and, Everything. Other comments included, Everything is at a high standard. One staff member felt that the home could do more things with residents, such as take them out on outings. No surveys were received from health and social care professionals who have contact Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 with the home. We have received no complaints about this service. We have not received any information about this service that gives cause for concern and would make us think that the current quality rating is not accurate. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 30th September 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the home or the safety of the people using the home.
