Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The registered person sent us the completed AQAA within the required timescale. The document was completed to a high standard and showed that the home continually reviews the service provided, in consultation with the people that use it. The registered person told us, in the AQAA, about some of the improvements that have been made since our last inspection of the service. This includes some changes to areas of the home to make it easier for people to get around and ongoing improvements to the fabric of the home. There has been an increase in the range of activities available and training for staff in safeguarding adults and the Mental Capacity Act. We received eight completed surveys from people that live in the care home. This information told us that people are happy with the care they receive. Comments that people made about the home include; The food is perfect and very varied Perfectly happy Completely satisfied No complaints Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The surveys also told us that people enjoy the range of activities arranged for them and feel they get the support they need each day. People using the service have a choice of activities they can participate in from regular in house activities to day trips out and themed events. Everyone confirmed that they know how to make a complaint if they need to. The registered provider has also conducted recent surveys to gather the views of people in the home. The feedback from this was positive and the registered provider has told us about changes made to the service as a result of the feedback received. A number of examples are given in the AQAA to show how that the home responds effectively to requests from the residents. Bi-monthly meetings are held for the residents of the home to share their views of the service and make suggestions for improvements. Some changes to the menu and activities have been made as a result of these meetings. There have been no complaints received by the home and the Care Quality Commission has not received any information relating to concerns about the service or safeguarding issues. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide excellent outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 8th July 2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
