What the care home does well Residents are being properly cared for and are well supported at the home. The comments that residents made to us helped to demonstrate this. One resident told us `the staff look after me very well`. We also saw residents being well supported by the staff with their day to day needs. Care plan records are detailed and are written in a `person centered` way. The care plans guide the staff to provide unique care and support to each resident. Medication records help to confirm that residents` medication is looked after safely. The environment is homely and safe and residents are happy living there. Residents are protected by the employment procedures used to recruit new staff. There are safe recruitment procedures followed to try and make sure only people who are suitable to work at the home are employed. Accident records help demonstrate to us that if residents have an accident, the staff respond promptly and take the safest course of action needed. What the care home could do better: We did not set any requirements at the Inspection. We spoke to one of the residents about the care and support they receive and what daily life is like at the home. We observed residents who could not verbally express their views, being helped and supported by the staff. We met the manager, a registered nurse and three support workers. We saw staff helping residents with their care needs. We looked at two peoples care plan records, to see out what sort of care and support they need and how staff provide this to them. We checked the records of controlled drugs that are kept in the home.We checked the record with the medication that was being stored in the controlled drugs cupboard. We did this to see if medication is stored safely. We toured the premises to see if it is a safe and suitable place to live in. We checked the employment records of the last two staff that had been employed. We checked these records to see if there are robust recruitment procedures in place, to protect the residents from people who may not be suitable to work at the home. We inspected the previous two months accident records, these showed when people had an accident and what action had been taken to maintain their safety.
