We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It gave us a reasonable picture of the current situation in the service, although there were a few gaps in the data section. The AQAA said that people in the home were regularly consulted and changes were made in response to their ideas and views. The AQAA was completed by the acting manager who has been in post since the end of March 2009. The acting manager has not yet applied for registration with us. We received completed surveys from 6 people living in the home. They told us they had received enough information about the home to help them decide if it was the right place for them. People said they could usually make decisions about what they did each day. They all knew who to speak to if they were not happy and most knew how to make a formal complaint. Most people said staff and managers treated them well and listened to them and acted on what they said. People said they look after me well Very well satisfied with everything they look after me and see Im well. One person said the home could improve by having a games room. We sent out surveys for staff to complete but none were returned. The home has let us know about most things that have happened since the last inspection. We received several concerns about the management and staffing of the home and referred these to the provider. The provider took appropriate action to address these concerns. We have some concerns about how the home is being managed and how this is affecting outcomes for people living at Treetops. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 The next inspection of this service will be based on the Fees and Frequency Regulations 2007 and the assessment of risk of the service. This will be further clarified when the new registration and inspection system under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 is confirmed. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
