Information provided by the manager prior to this unannounced visit, demonstrated that the quality of care is monitored and appropriate actions are taken to continually improve standards of care. The requirement made at the last inspection, to ensure laundry facilities were adequate and able to separate clean and soiled items, was addressed. Systems were in place to ensure this and plans are in place to improve this facility elsewhere in the home. The requirement to provide evidense that wiring systems are checked was addressed. However the certificate to demonstrate this is now outdated. The recommendation to review night time staffing numbers was addressed. Following a review, care staff numbers have recently been increased to provide three care staff in addition to the nursing cover. Surveys were returned from three service users supported by their families. Many positive comments about the service were provided, including; The care given to my son is excellent. The staff are very dedicated. Staff are friendly and respect service users. Pleasant building and rooms. One person commented the home appears slow in providing physio and occupational therapy. Management agreed to review this. Three survey returns from staff were also positive but one person identified that the call system is not good as there is only one working alarm. Management stated this problem is now resolved. Another issue identified was the need for additional night time support. This issue has now also been resolved. What the care home does well: What they could do better:
The electrical safety certificate was recently out of date. This should be replaced to ensure people living in the home are safe. It is intended to improve the laundry facilities to better meet the needs of the home but arrangements are not yet fully established.
