Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection which was done on 5th February 2009. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspections and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What has this told us about the service? The AQAA was received on time. This shows that the service works in a cooperative manner with us. The AQAA contained some good information about how the service had improved, giving examples, and highlighted the areas they were planning to improve on. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. We sent surveys to people using the service but none had been returned at the time of writing this review. The AQAA identified that the service has continued to improve staff development and is supporting staff through training courses. This will enable staff to have the necessary skills needed to provide a good level of care to people who use the service. The AQAA tells us that the home have listened to people who use the service and have various ways in which they actively seek the views of people and others.People have been involved in the planning of menus and had a say in how areas of the home have been decorated and furnished. This means that people who use the service are able to contribute to how the home is run. The AQAA identified that improvements have been made to the environment of the home. The home has recently been fully refurbished and some people have chosen their own decor for their rooms. Our records show that the service notified us of incidents required by the regulations. The service continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people that use it. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? It is our statutory responsibility to inspect all care service at least once every 3 years.
