What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection of 8th July 2008. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The provider is in charge of the home, in the acting manager role, as the registered manager left the home in April 2009. The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. Five staff members and seven people living in the home replied to our survey. People living in the home gave us mixed views. Two people said that activities are sometimes arranged by the home that they can take part in, while four people said activities were usually organised. All the responses showed that there were always staff available when people wanted them. All the staff members who replied said that more staff were needed, one saying so residents can go on outings with members of staff, and another saying to provide activities by a trained worker. We understand from the AQAA that more staff are being recruited. From other information that we received in the AQAA we are concerned that there are some issues that we need to look at and we intend to carry out a visit to the service to see how the home is meeting all of the service users needs. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We will do a random inspection to look at the issues raised in this review. This inspection could mean that we will bring our next key inspection forward. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 5 Reader Information
