What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the home. We looked at what the home has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. We looked at the previous key inspection and annual service review and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. We looked to see if we had any relevant information, given to us by other organisations. At the time of writing this review, we had not received any completed surveys from people who live or work at Pinta. What has this told us about the service? We received the annual quality assurance assessment on or before the date it was due back. It gave us a lot of information about how the home supports the people who live at the home but it did not give us a great deal of information about their plans for the future, mainly referring to continuing their current approach. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing an excellent service. The AQAA noted the home listens to the views of the people who live there and involves them in the running of the home, for example in domestic chores, shopping and meal preparation. The home treats people as individuals and supports people to take risks to live the life they choose. People who live there enjoy a variety of planned hobbies, such as swimming, cycling and rambling but are also able to undertake impromptu activities such as trips to the pub or the cinema. At the time the AQAA was completed, each of the people who live there were being supported to plan their own foreign holiday. The home is domestic and comfortable and the decor in peoples rooms is that of their own choice. The garden now includes a vegetable patch and a summer house. The home does not use agency staff and has a high staff ratio, including two waking night staff. Turnover is low and the staff are well qualified with approximately 86 per cent of staff qualified to NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) level 2 or above. During the course of preparing this Annual Service Review, we noted that the home is currently without a registered manager. Atlas Project Team have informed us that a new manager, who is currently registered with us to manage another of Atlas homes, Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 is applying to be the registered manager of Pinta. This person is currently waiting for his disclosure to be returned from the Criminal Records Bureau so that he can submit his full application to us. The Commission has received no information with regard to complaints or safeguarding issues about this service. From the evidence available, it is our judgement that the home continues to provide excellent outcomes for people who live there. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan. However we can inspect the home at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using it.
